A $5,000 Tercel. About $3k or so too high. Looks great but still. No.

You would really hate Canada cause all the cars you are looking at have long rusted away over here.
Even the last tercel is getting more rare every day.

How does that only have 25k on it? Did the owner buy it new, drive it until 1996 and then die?

Were those even $5000 new??
It is a sharp little machine. But $2000-$2500 max.

Perhaps. It does look awfully nice for one of the most disposable cars I can think of.

Holy crap it looks nice though, besides the driver’s seat. I really want to know the how/why/wtf on this one.

I’d bet it sat for a long time, under 1,000 miles a year is pretty hard to do without it sitting for some period of time. Even my grandparents put more than 1,000 miles on their cars each year.

It’s a lovely little time capsule. On the one hand, it’s good basic transportation. On the other, for 5 grand or less you could have something with modern safety equipment - airbags, side impact, crumple zones, the lot. I often think of what I’d buy if we were suddenly teleported to the suburbs, and I usually answer: Volvo. Maybe an S80.

wow a car that old with no rust on it? WTF?
Still, CP, EZ

Whoa the seller should *know* it’s CP if the incomparable Dr. Z says “too much” for a perfectly-preserved survivor like this

I had some half wit comment about Bellevue ready to go but then I clicked the ad. Maybe I should start looking for cars in Vancouver.

That vinyl is super flimsy. Whoever drove it probably had jeans with buttons on them.

I bet it was bought out of an estate for something like $1500 tops, flippy. Impressive survivor, but so painfully base model. No AC and vinyl will make it fun in the summer.

I would be tempted to offer $3500 for it if it was closer, (and I wouldn’t die if I hit a small dog in it). If I’m risking death it has to at least be fun..(like a 914).

Maaaybe if it was a coupe from that year... with a manual... maaaaybe.
But even then, the price is still high.

In Canada, they were around $9000 to $10,000 new. And the coupe was around $12,000.

Considering a coworker got a decent Tercel of this generation for free, yeah, NO.

I had to look.. Here, the list price for a base model was between $5948 and $6958. Right in line with an Escort Pony, “Chevy” Nova, Spectrum and Sprint and the last of the Mopar Omni/Horizons.

4 speed? even my starlet came with a 5 speed 6 years before this fella was built.
